Abstract

551,825. Electric air heated. MANLOVE, ALLIOTT & CO., Ltd.. COLLINS, H. E. C., and HODGES, J. M. Sept. 8, 1941, No. 11426. [Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Groups VI and XXXVII] High pressure steam sterilizers are provided with means for sterilizing air passing to the interior of the sterilizer comprising a chamber or tube 1 having internal electrically heated elements 5 mounted on a spider and designed to operate at a red heat. Alternatively the air may be passed through a coil 16 heated by a burner 14 which also heats the sterilizing chamber 12. In order to prevent overheating of the apparatus shown in Fig. 1, in the event of cessation of the air flow, a tube 9 containing mercury is provided communicating with a known type of capillary tube 9a which actuates a trip lever 9b to release a mercury switch 10 which must be reset by hand.
