Abstract

551,778. Warning signs. EMMERSON, T. H. R. Feb. 6, 1942, No. 1562. [Class 3 (ii)] An internally illuminated portable sign for giving warning of air-raid conditions, road impediments, and other temporary matters is provided with a handle which is that of a hurricane or like lamp over which the sign casing is diposed and through a a slot S in the top of which the handle projects. The casing may have a weighted base W or legs. The' display matter is in the form of stencils which may be covered with transparent coloured or plain material, and the stencils may be outlined in white &c. paint. Shields may be pivoted to opposite corners to cover any desired face and reveal other faces. The stencils may be removable, and storage means therefor may be provided within the casing. The casing may have hinged sides, bottom or top, so as to be collapsible, or the parts may be buttoned together, and the casing may be built up of two or more portions. A reflector may be provided within the casing. Hooks may be fitted on the inside of the casing to engage the hurricane &c. lamp.
