[Class 112] A cutter-block 55 on the presser foot and a cutting edge 39 at the front of the feed-dog are normally kept apart by the work. When the work passes from between them, the thread chain extending from the work is engaged and cut by them. The cutter block has a step 63 which co-operates with the cutting- edge of the feed-dog. The cutter-block is mounted in a slide in a part 53 pivoted on the presser bar, being adjustable by means of an eccentric pin 57 which enters a transverse slot in the cutter block. The pivot of the part 53 is provided by a pin 51 in that part mounted in an arcuate slot struck from a centre substantially at the thread-cutting point. The pivoted sole-plate 40 of the presser-foot has a tongue 48 extending near to the cutting point. The feeddog has three feed surfaces side by side, and the cutting edge 39 is formed on a widened portion of the middle surface. One of the surfaces has a narrowed portion which does not extend so far forward as the other surfaces do. In a modification, in place of the lengthwise adjustable block 55, a block having four differently dimensioned faces 88, 89, 90, 91, Fig. 10, is pivotally secured in a pivoted part 80.
