551,579. Gloves; hats; coated fabrics ; indiarubber, ornamenting. SWAIN, M. F. Aug. 15, 1941, No. 10419. [Class 70] [Also in Groups VII and VIII] A material suitable for making gloves, hats, hoods, handbags &c., consists of a base of rubber, gelatine, gums &c. coated on both sides with fibrous substances such as particles of felt, wool, silk, fur, straw, sisal &c. The two sides may be coated with different materials. Gloves, hats &c. may be made by forming the rubber or other base by dipping a mould in a rubber or other solution and spraying, dusting or blowing the fibrous material on to the surface before it is completely dry or after application of an adhesive. The glove &c. is then reversed and then either while on the former or while inflated is rendered tacky and the second surface is coated with fibrous material. Alternatively fibrous material may be mixed with only sufficient adhesive to hold the fibres together, and the mixture applied by coating or spraying on to a former, the reverse side being coated after removal of the article from the former. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 213,835, [Class 70], 346,279, 376,456, 381,525, 453,234 and 488,809.
