Abstract

550,718. Concrete lattice posts, pylons and towers. ASHCRETE (PROPRIETARY), Ltd., LAUTENBERG, G. H., and MACERATA, S. May 19, 1941, No. 6390. [Class 20 (i)] Reinforced-concrete lattice structures, such as water towers, masts, pylons, and the like, are constructed by erecting the reinforcement of the vertical and lattice portions, precasting in the form of hollow or apertured members the upstanding members and/or lattice members, placing such members to enclose the reinforcement and filling in the spaces between the members and the reinforcement, and casting in situ the remaining members not precast. In one form, Fig. 1, comprising three separate posts 10 forming the structure, the reinforcing rods 11 are first positioned, the lower portions of concrete are then cast around the separate reinforcements by means of tubular moulds 14 suspended from a frame 15 sliding on upright guides 16, and an aperture precast concrete spacer 12 is slid on to the reinforcement. The further post portions are then cast around the reinforcements above the spacer and part of the material enters the recesses in the spacer and binds the whole into a monobloc. The process is repeated and where the posts incline towards each other at the top, the moulds are set at the necessary inclination on the frame 15. The adjacent ends of the separate posts enter end caps such as 28, and at the upper end a single post 25 is cast to terminate the structure, the reinforcement from the separate posts passing into and through the post 25. For a water-tower the coverings 32 and 41 for both the uprights and inclined lattice members are precast, the latter being secured to projections 36 on knuckle portions 31 which are temporarily secured by clamps 35 to the upright coverings ; concrete is then cast between the tubular coverings on the uprights and lattice members and the several reinforcements. The precast members may be formed with complementary recesses and projections to interengage.
