[Class 106 (i)] In a computing appliance, a plurality of counter wheels, with the necessary transfer mechanism, are operated via gearing and a pawl and ratchet wheel mechanism by a like number of operating members rotatably mounted for reciprocation over an arcuate path, said operating members having arcuate faces each provided with apertures for engagement by the fingers of the operator or by an operating pin to rotate the respective operating member to a limiting stop to rotate the respective counter wheel accordingly, the operating members being spring loaded so that they return to their original position after release. Cam face 30 has meanwhile rocked lever 28 and fork 31 to shift the transfer wheel of lower denomination axially to free the counter wheel. The counter wheel remains in mesh with its own transferwheel, however, to permit transfer to the next higher denomination. Springs 24 restore the operating members. The mechanism may be combined with the appliance described in Specification 548,944 and have a member 39 positioned along slide 38 to represent the decimal point.
