Abstract
549,298. Sodium perborate of low bulk density. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO., E. I., and GILBERT, H. N. May 12, 1941, No. 6101. [Class 1 (iii)] Sodium perborate of low bulk density is made by feeding sodium perborate tetrahydrate to a rotating hot surface whereby the perborate is heated sufficiently to melt the tetrahydrate quickly and drive off some of the water of hydration but insufficient to fuse or bring about incipient melting of the dehydrated product. The rotating surface may be of cast iron, copper, nickel &c. Aluminium or magnesium or alloys of these metals may be used to reduce the metallic content of the finished product.
