Abstract

546,069. Coil-less resonators ; ; wireless receivers. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. June 20, 1941, No. 7822. Convention date, June 20, 1940. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] A resonator comprising coaxial conductors 1, 2 connected together at one end is tunable by means of a rotatable plate 7 which co-operates with a fixed plate 8 on the inner conductors to vary the capacity of the resonator and is carried by a vane or short-circuited turn 6 which acts by eddy currents to vary the inductance of the resonator, the arrangement being such that when the capacity is a minimum the inductance also is a minimum. The resonator may be used to tune the oscillator of a self-tuning wireless receiver in which the voltage derived from an error detector of known kind is amplified by tubes 18 and controls relays 20, 21 which are oppositely polarized by rectifiers 19 and cause motor 24 to be driven in one direction or the other to correct the tuning of the resonator 1, 2.
