Abstract

545,413. Conveyer chains. DIAMOND CHAIN & MANUFACTURING CO. July 25, 1940, No. 12163. Convention date, July 26, 1939. [Class 24] Conveyer chains, subject to wide temperature variations, such as in lehrs, consist of spaced rows of bars 10, Fig. 1, staggered in adjacent rows, each carrying bushes 11, which abut to space the bars, and through which are passed the joint pins 12. The bushes and bars are interlocked by means of grooves midway of the length of the bushes. For this purpose, in the form shown, the bushes are slotted longitudinally and are sprung into the holes in the bars. Alternatively, the holesin the bars may have a tapered entrance from the ends of the bars and the resilience of the bars relied on to hold the bushes in place. In another arrangement, Fig. 5, the bushes are made in two parts 35, 37. According to further arrangements, the bushes may be slid into place through openings of sufficient width, and the edge of the openings then swaged down to prevent withdrawal. The grooves in the surface of the bushes may be provided on parts of the circumference only, and interlocking means for preventing relative rotation of the bars and bushes may be provided.
