Abstract
545,075. Bearings. BUSKE, A. March 7, 1939, No. 7428. Convention date, March 7, 1938. [Class 12 (i)] A bearing bush B is made of material having a higher co-efficient of heat expansion than the material of the bearing housing, and the latter is strengthened at one point at least by a rib G, the wall thickness of the housing on both sides of the rib being diminished to such an extent that the deformation forces between the bush and the housing in consequence of the heating up of the bearing in use remain below that which would produce plastic deformation of the bush. This construction also permits of expansion of the bush at the ports remote of the rib or ribs G so that the bush has a shape such as shown in Fig. 2, to agree with that of the shaft when distorted or flexed under load. Further the tendency of the bush to become loose is reduced. If desired the outside diameter of the bush in the vicinity of the ribs may be less than the corresponding bore of the housing.
