Abstract
542,482. Band clips. O'RIORDAN, M. J. Feb. 15, 1941, No. 2080. [Class 44] [Also in Group XXII] A clip for securing hosepipes and like uses of the kind in which the clip is tightened by a tangential screw worm engaging serrations or teeth formed on the band, has the serrations formed by dies 14, 15 so shaped and spaced that the metal is not sheared between adjacent teeth. The serrations shown are of ratchet form with the portions 13 at right angles to the general plane of the band, but they may be inclined at a smaller angle so that the serrations overhang, to prevent or minimize damage to the band by the threads of the worm. For the same purpose the slopes of the screw threads may be slightly different from those of the serrations, or the crests of the threads and serrations may be flattened off. The edges 12a of the band may be bent at an angle during formation of the serrations. The worm 8 shown is rotatably anchored in a member 7 trunnioned at 5 in lugs 4 at points more remote from the band than the worm, so that the reaction when the worm is engaged tends to rock member 7 to hold the worm in tighter engagement with the serrations.
