Abstract

542,353. Cracking oils. ANGLO - IRANIAN OIL CO., Ltd., DARE, H. F., and HOWES, D. A. Nov. 24, 1939, No. 30767. [Class 32] In processes for cracking hydrocarbon oils in the presence of catalysts comprising naturally occurring siliceous materials, e.g. clays, bentonites, or synthetic alumina - silica compounds of the kind in which the unconverted oil is recycled to the reaction, deterioration of the catalysts is lessened by separating the catalysts from the reaction products and flashing or distilling the latter to remove a high boiling fraction comprising polymers from the volatile products which are then fractionated to recover gases, gasoline and gas oil, and a high boiling residue which is recycled. Oil and catalysts are supplied through lines c, b, to a reaction vessel a heated to 950‹F. The catalysts are discharged through line d separately from the reaction products discharged through line e the latter being flashed in a vessel l to separate volatile fractions from high molecular weight polymers rejected through line n. The vapours pass through line m to tower f where they are fractionated to recover gases, gasoline, and gasoil through lines g, h, i, respectively and a high boiling fraction which is re-circulated through lines j, k.
