[Class 60] A grinding or abrading machine comprises a hollow pedestal a having in its upper part A a number of spaced openings in each of which is removably mounted a unit consisting of an electric motor c, Fig. 5, the spindle d of which carries a grinding, lapping or polishing disc or annular &c. tool f. Each motor has control switches t and each tool f has a guard a' arranged to expose its outer face, if annular, or part of its periphery if of the disc type. Cooling liquid may be supplied by conduits m, Fig. 1, and returned to a sump by pipes p and a filter if desired. Swarf collects in a tray a' and troughs o. If there is no supply of liquid, means for drawing away and collecting dust may be provided. Beneath each tool an adjustable work table v is arranged. A grinding annulus may be mounted on a disc g, Fig. 5, secured to the spindle d by means of bolts j and a ring i or by the bolts j, j<SP>1</SP> alone passing through an inner flange f<SP>1</SP>.
