[Class 48] [Also in Group XXI] Spherical floats 11 with external fins 12 are interposed in the drawline 14 of a trawl net and have two attachment points 15a, 15b, 15c and 16a. 16b, 16c, for the headline 17 and ground rope 18, and a third point 13 for the drawline 14. If the lines 17, 18 are attached to the central lugs 15b, 16b, the fin 12 is vertical, but if 17 is attached to 15a and 18 to 16c, the fin is slightly tilted and exerts a lifting or depressing effect on its float. The floats may be watertight or may have holes 21 for access of water and an internal air chamber 22 for buoyancy. Adjustable vanes 19 may be provided on 12 for varying the immersion of the float. Similar floats 10 are arranged in the drawlines 14. For minesweeping, several floats. are connected transversely to the line of travel and support a wide net.
