[Class 4] [Also in Group XXV] The attachment for an assembly of shroud lines of a parachute described in Specification 518,101 comprising a member 1, sliding on the loops 18 formed at the ends of the shroud lines 2 when the load is applied thereto, and a connecting member 3 for linking the loops with the harness of the parachute, is modified by providing the connecting member with evenly spaced radial passages 7 through which the loops pass and are thereby prevented from fouling each other. The passages 7 are disposed in an annular part 6 of the connecting member, the part 3 integral therewith having slots 4, 5 for the reception of the harness straps. The passages are formed by drilling the part 6 and slotting out the holes upwardly the grooves so formed being closed by a metal ring 8 which is welded and screwed into an annular groove of corresponding section turned out of the face of the part 6. The sliding member 1 consists of a body similar to the upper half of the corresponding member described in Specification 518,101, a single apertured flange 10 only being necessary. The shroud lines 2 from the canopy pass through a ring of separate holes 11 in the flange and their return ends pass through separate holes 13 disposed in two rings through the whole thickness of the sliding member. The ends are secured together to form a tail 14, such as by adhesive thread 19. The curvature of the shoulder 15 of the sliding member may be varied according to the amount of friction desired. In the closed position of the loops, the parts 1 and 3 of the attachment fit snugly face to face. The attachment is preferably used with an assembly of 12 shroud lines, two such attachments being required for the'usual parachute of 24 cords.
