Abstract

536,914. Ice-making. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Jan. 30, 1940, No. 1818. Convention date, Feb. 1, 1939. [Class 29] Diagonally opposite corners of a domestic freezing tray 10 have sloping bottoms 16 so that these parts are out of contact with the wall of the cooling unit and freezing is delayed in the pockets above them until the other pockets are frozen. As the corner pockets freeze thrust is imparted to break the ice bonds between the other compartments and release of the ice cubes is facilitated. The partition 14 is constructed as described in Specification 445,022. The bottoms of the corner pockets may be recessed instead of sloping, or may be formed or fitted with non- conducting layers to provide insulation sufficient to delay freezing in the corner pockets.
