Abstract

536,396. Optically-projected images. TECHNICOLOR MOTION PICTURE CORPORATION. April 9, 1940, No. 6415. Convention date, Sept. 20, 1939. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (ii)] Films for use in a projector which produces excessive brightness on a portion of the screen have an increased density in the corresponding portion of the image. They may be prepared by first exposing a negative film in a camera to a screen illuminated by the projector without the use of a film, or to an illuminated surface shaded to simulate the illuminated screen, preparing a positive from the negative film by printing or reversal, and using such positive film as a modulator in printing the projection film. The projection film may be multi-coloured, may be printed by imbibition, and may include a black-and-white print, the modulation being incorporated in the black-and-white or any of the colour-record images. The projected image may form a background scene which is rephotographed in conjunction with a foreground scene.
