Abstract

535,872. Electric heaters. PEARL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., and WINSTON, T. Jan. 27, 1940, No. 1679. [Class 39 (iii)] An electric stove applicable for toasting, cooking or room heating, comprises a rectangular sheet metal casing 1 with a circular opening in the top through which an electric heating element is exposed. A rectangular wire grid 4 is provided with cross bars 5, 6, 7 having feet 8 resting on the casing. Extended portions of one side of the grid 9 are bent down and engage at 9a in holes in the casing walls so as to form hinges about which the grid may be turned clear of the top of the casing, when not required to support cooking utensils. The grid carries two U-shaped members 10, 11 hinged about the cross bars 5, 7 so that they may occupy a horizontal position supported by the bar 6, or be turned into inclined position as shown to support bread to be toasted. For quick boiling the grid 4 may be turned back and utensils placed on the casing 1 close to the heating unit. When the stove is required to serve as a radiator, the grid 4 is turned round until it occupies a position at right angles to, and below, the base, so that the stove may then rest on one edge of the casing and the projecting grid, with its upper surface inclined and facing in an upward direction.
