Abstract
535,525. Electromechanical wave filters. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. April 5, 1940, No. 6171. Convention date, July 19, 1939. [Class 40 (iii)] An electromechanical wave filter comprises a metallic bar or tube 11 and two pairs of piezo-electric plates, one pair 12, 13 for producing vibrations which are picked up by the other pair 16, 17. The bar may be mounted at the centre on a comer so that the mounting does not interfere with the crystals which are disposed centrally with respect to the length of the bar or tube. The electromechanical filter may form the series arms of a bridged-T wave filter, the input terminal 1 being connected to one pair of plates 12, 13, the output terminal 3 to the other pair 16, 17, and the terminals 2, 4 to the bar or tube 11. Shunt condensers Cl are arranged as shown, and inductances L1 in series as shown or in parallel, Fig. 7 (not shown). Two electromechanical filters may be connected in parallel Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown). The inductances L1 may be inductively coupled. The attenuation peaks are determined by the poling of the piezoelectric plates and by the coupling between inductances L1.
