Abstract
535,524. Mounting fittings on photographic lenses. RAYMOND, R. J. April 3, 1940, No. 6017. [Classes 97 (i) and 98 (i)] [Also in Group XXV] The mount of a filter, supplementary lens, diffusion or polarizing screen, lens hood or the like is removably connected to the lens mount by co-operating internal and external wedge members formed on it and on the lens mount or a member secured to it, relative partial rotation of the two parts causing a wedging action in a radial direction. In the form shown, a ring 11 secured by clamping screws 12 to the lens mount is formed on its outer face with three internal wedge members 16 in the form of curved teeth. The attachment 17 which carries a lens or filter 18, is formed with corresponding external curved wedge members 19 which, when the attachment is placed over the end of the ring 11 and partially rotated, engage the curved faces of the wedges 16 and lock the attachment. The edges of the wedge members may be undercut or bevelled, as shown at 20, to lock the parts against axial separation. The ring 11 and the attachments may be formed of moulded plastic. The attachment 17 may be formed on the opposite side to that shown with internal wedge members similar to those on the ring 11, so that a number of attachments may be used together.
