Abstract
534,556. Enamels and glazes. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 11, 1940, No. 4490. Convention date, March 11, 1939. [Class 56] A leadless enamel, particularly intended for application to the glass bulbs or envelopes of electric lamps, comprises about 8-32 per cent. of ScO 2 , 10-45 per cent. of B 2 O 3 , 1-6 per cent. of Al 2 O 3 , 0-6 per cent. of Z+O, less than 10 per cent. of alkali oxides, 4-12 per cent. of antimony oxide or arsenic oxide, and at least two oxides selected from the group consisting of BaO, CaO, CdO, and ZnO. Zirconium oxide may be added to increase the chemical stability of the enamel. Compositions of a number of enamels are given in the Specification and Specifications 273,260, [Class 56] and 428,414, [Group XI], are referred to.
