[Class 91] In a process for the de-waxing of mineral oils or fractions or residues thereof by adding a solvent or a mixture of solvents liquid at normal temperatures and chilling the waxy oil solution to de-waxing temperature, the solvent or mixture of solvents is added progressively, either stepwise or continuously, in accordance with the reduction in temperature of the waxy oil solution, and the wax is subsequently removed from the oil solution. The difference in temperature between the mixture of oil and solvent and the stepwise or continuously added solvent should not be greater than 15‹C. The precipitated and separated oil-containing wax is freed from oil in two or more stages by means of pure or oilcontaining solvent free from wax. Where mixtures of solvents are used, the individual components may be added consecutively. An example is given, with lay-out of plant, for de-waxing a Roumanian distillate, using naphtha as the solvent.
