Abstract
533,523. Tea manufacture. LYONS & CO., Ltd., J. (Mowbray, E. G. B. de., and Gridley, E. H.). Aug. 21, 1939, No. 24038. [Class 129] The picked leaf is subjected to chemical wither at relatively low temperature without regard to physical wither, and excess moisture is then reduced by mechanical means. The low temperature is maintained by humidification of the air. A suitable temperature range is 45‹ F. to 75‹ F. The excess moisture removed from the leaf may be concentrated and re-incorporated in the leaf. The leaf is rolled, fermented and fired as usual after the chemical withering.
