Abstract

533,077. Water scoops for boats. PAINE, H. SCOTT-. June 5, 1939, No. 16504. [Class 113 (i)] A water scoop for supplying water to or extracting it from boats comprises a pipe 10 terminating in a flange secured to the underside of the boat. In the neighbourhood of the flange the pipe is inclined forwards its aft extremity terminating in a sharp lip 14 which is below the general level of the bottom of the boat to serve as a scoop. The forward end runs easily into the flange and the orifice is guarded by a grid 17. If the fitting is reversed so that the lip 14 faces aft water is extracted by suction from the interior of the boat.
