Abstract
533,041. Protecting against blast and vibration. TAPPING, F. F. Sept. 14, 1939, Nos. 25845 and 30868. [Class 20 (iii)] A support member providing seats for a plurality of resilient pads distributed over the surface of the window &c, with or without the interposition of a spring or springs, by a resilient or rigid element or tie extending across the window and secured to its frame or to some suitable anchorage adjacent the edges of the window to a pair of wooden arms 1, 2, arranged at right angles and rebated where they intersect are fixed in position by slotted wooden washers 3, 4 and secured together by a screw 5. On the projecting end of the screw 5 is a removable boss 6 slotted to engage ties 9, 10 extending diagonally across the window 11 to the frame of which the ends of the ties are fixed. The arms carry at their ends pads 12 of soft rubber which seat on the surface of the glass. The pads are bonded to the rigid discs 13. In a modification the pads are formed of suction cups. The ties are constituted by tension wires provided with turnbuckles. The support may be moulded from hard rubber and provided with pads of soft sponge rubber.
