Abstract

532,978. Coiling hose pipes. WOLVERHAMPTON MOTOR SERVICES, Ltd., and RUSSEL, A. E. Sept. 28, 1939, No. 26779. [Class 94 (i)] Relates to a device for coiling collapsable hosepipe, comprising two rotatable metal discs between which the hose is wound. According to the invention, the distance between the discs is adjustable in order that the device may be used for coiling hose of different widths The discs d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP>, Figs. 1 and 2, are provided with short shafts f, f<SP>1</SP> respectively, which are journalled in bearings on a frame b<SP>2</SP>. Each disc has a radial slot d' adapted to receive one of the trunnions of the hose coupling. The shaft f<SP>1</SP>, or both shafts, is formed with a number of peripheral grooves f<SP>2</SP> into which a lever or handle Q, hinged to the bearing c<SP>2</SP>, can enter to prevent endwise movement of the shaft, By lifting the lever Q, the shaft can be moved endwise to adjust the distance between the discs d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP>. When the device is to be used, the trunnions of the hose coupling are inserted in the slots d<SP>3</SP>, and a plate P, Fig. 6, is inserted in slots d' to secure the coupling in position. The end of the plate is turned up at p to enable it to be withdrawn by a tool R when the coiled hose is removed from between the discs.
