Abstract

532,508. Tufting upholstery. ARMSTRONG, J. J. V. (Fridolph, A. E.). Sept. 7, 1939, No. 25172. [Class 52 (iv)] In tufting the button 12 is provided with a collet 10 of arcuate form and a central aperture of small dimensions. The tufting tape 3 has its end wrapped round and clamped by a stiff channel member 6a of length less than that of the tape for insertion into the button 12 and collet 10 so that the fabric ends 3a of the head seat themselves on the collet. The other end 5 of the tape 3 for insertion into the needle is also provided with a stiff channel member 6 which is of greater length than that of the width of the tape to provide protruding ends 8.
