531,663. Condensers. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. July 28, 1939, No. 21994. Convention date, Aug. 31, 1938. Drawings to Specification. [Class 37] In making up a dielectric, up to 10 per cent. of compounds of mercury, lead or silver are incorporated with halogenated substances such as chlorinated naphthalene or chlorinated diphenyl, the metal compound serving to counteract the formation of free acids. The compound may be incorporated in the paper base by adding to the pulp in manufacture. The compound may be a salt of a weak acid such as boric, carbonic, citric or acetic, or those contained in the pectins, gum arabic, cherry gum or the acid carbohydrate derivatives such as gluconic or uronic acids. Certain cellulosic substances, containing relatively large amounts of beta and gamma cellulose, react with the salts, and uncombined salts may be washed free.
