Abstract

531,406. Radio receiving apparatus. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. July 20, 1939, No. 21153. Convention date, July 23, 1938. [Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In push button mechanism for tuning radio receivers in which stop members operating the wave change switch are provided on the push buttons to the stops are adjustable in position relative to the operating mechanism so that any push button may be used on any wave length. In Fig. 2, depression of push button shaft 7 operates a lever 4 to rotate the condenser shaft 1 through toothed gearing 2, 3, and also causesa stop member 11 to strike against a lever 14 operating the wave switch 16 which is moved to different positions corresponding to different wave bands according as the member 11 is inserted in apertures 12 or 13 formed in the shaft 7. Accurate tuning of the condenser to the required wave length is obtained by adjusting the length of the part 9 extending from the shaft 7. In Fig. 5 the stop members 27, 28 are wedge shaped on one side and coact with the sides of apertures 31 formed in a:slider 30 controlled by springs 32, 33 and connected to the wave change switch 35 so that on depression of a push button the slider 30 is moved to the right or the left according to the position of the wedges and the wave change switch is operated correspondingly. By rotating the wedge through 180 degrees the press button may thus be converted from use on one wave length to another. In Fig. 9 each push button is. provided with two apertures 57, 58 in which rods 59 may be adjusted, the rods in the apertures 57 contacting on depression with-.a system of levers 62, 64, 65 white the rods.in the apertures 58 contact with a similar system of levers 63, 66, 67 the levers throwing the wave band switch to the required position. In Fig. 13, the mechanism comprises a scissor-shaped member comprising blades 84, 85 coupled by gear wheels 101, 102 to the wave change mechanism 99, 98. The blades 84, 85 are provided respectively with projections 86-88 and 89-91 arranged alternately side by side and co-operating with stop members 95, 96, 97 on the push button shafts 92, 39 and 94. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 509,511 510,360 and 516,385.
