Abstract

530,309. Cement. JORGENSEN, M. VOGEL-. March 31, 1939, No. 10177. [Class 22] In adjusting the proportion of ingredients in a mineral so as to obtain a composition suitable for making cement, the mineral is ground and a fraction, the particles of which have about the same size, is removed and subjected to electrostatic separation to remove the unwanted ingredient. The mineral is ground in a high speed mill 1 connected in a closed air circuit with a separator 2, and the fraction not returned to the mill, which may be between 1 to 4 and 1 to 20 of the amount passing through the separator, may be treated in a second separator 3 which removes the finest grains from it, and is then passed between the roll 6a-6f of an electrostatic separator. The separator 3 receives a current of hot air from a furnace 4 which carries the separated fine material to a cyclone 7 and is returned through a pump 9 to the separator 3. The fine material is mixed with the material leaving the electrostatic separator.
