[Class 81 (i)] [Also in Groups III and XXI] Compositions suitable for personal washing consist of a water-soluble salt of the sulphuric acid ester of the menoethanolamide of a carboxylic acid containing at least 8 carbon atoms, and a water-soluble salt of a capillary active alkyl-naphthalene sulphuric acid. The salts may be of alkali metals, ammonia or organic bases e.g. oxyalhylamines. Other substances may be added e.g. ammonia or amine or other soaps; capillarily active water-soluble salts of acid esters of high molecular organic compounds or such salts of organic sulphuric acids; water-soluble or readily dispersible hydroxy compounds such as lower alcohols or their mono- or polyethers with free hydroxy groups, or higher alcohols such as fatty resin, and wax alcohols ; alkylolamides of higher carboxylic acids; mono- or polyglycol esters or ethers of high molecular hydroxy or carboxy compounds ; higher amines or their salts ; alkylolamines or their salts ; cholesterol; lecithin ; albumen or other protein compounds or fatty acid derivatives of their degradation products; starches; salts of glycero-phosphoric acid; watersoluble carbonates, phosphates, borates or persalts of organic or inorganic bases; tanning substances, antiseptic substances e.g. salicyclic acid; henna; camomile flower or other animal or vegetable extract; superfatting bleaching or stiffening materials e.g. alkylated cellulose; and perfumes. Especially suitable for shampoo and toilet purposes are mixtures of the salts of technical sulphuric acid esters of the monoethanolamides with salts of technical mixtures of mono- and di-butyl naphthalene-sulphonic acids. In examples (1) 4 lb. of the sodium salt of the acid sulphuric acid ester of the monoethanolamide of coconut oil fatty acid is mixed with 1 lb. of the sodium salt of a technical mixture of mono- and di-butylnaphthalene-sulphonic acids, perfumed and formed into flakes. (2) 1 lb. of a 43 per cent solution of the triethanolamine salt of the acid sulphuric acid ester of the monoethanolamide of oleic acid is mixed with 1 lb. of a 40 per cent solution of a technical mixture of mono- and di-butyl-naphthalene-sulphonic acids. (3) a product obtained from whale oil is mixed with the ammonium salts of the mixture of naphthalene sulphuric acids.
