Abstract
528,886. Knitting-machines. F.N.F., Ltd., and MORRISON, J. L. M. May 16, 1939, No. 14626. [Class 74 (ii)] The guide bars of a warp knitting-machine are traversed in one direction by a cam and in the other direction by a stiff resilient device arranged so that the force applied to the guide bar undergoes small changes in comparison with the changes in movement of the guide bar itself. The bars are attached by flexible metal strips 11 to lever parts 8, 9 pivoted at 10. A member 5 also pivoted at 10 extends between the parts 8, 9 and is connected thereto by pins 13, 30. The lower end of the member 5 is formed at one side with a recess 15 in which a spring-pressed V-shaped projection 16 bears. The spring 18 can be adjusted in tension by screwing in a cap 26. A bolt 31 is screwed up to bear against an abutment 32 when it is desired to relieve the guide-bar of the spring pressure. By the choice of a suitable design of the parts it is possible to arrange that, although the stress of the spring 18 changes appreciably in different positions, the turning moment and therefore the stress on the guide bar remains nearly uniform.
