[Classes 19 and 61 (i)] [Also in Group V] A brush has the butt end of its bristles b moulded in a holder or handle of synthetic resin A two part metal mould a accommodates the bunch of bristles b which are held in a two part clamp d. The mould is closed at its outer end by a removable stop piece e against which the bristles can abut. Before the bristles are arranged in the mould their butt ends may be secured together by cement in which synthetic resin may be incorporated or which may consist entirely of synthetic resin. After the bristles are placed in position the mould is filled with synthetic resin c, closed, subjected to heat or pressure or both. Reinforcements may be used in the mould such as headed pins which extend through the handle at the butt end of the bristles, the outer ends of the pins being interconnected by metal strips lying outside the holder.
