[Class 103 (v)] [Also in Group I] A tractor drawn mowing machine comprises a pair of frame structures mounted for vertical movement as a unit about a horizontal pivot axis on the tractor and separable about a vertical axis when the mower engages an obstruction, the two structures comprising a draught frame pivotally mounted on the tractor and a mower frame secured by a vertical pivot to the draught frame. The draught frame comprises a pair of plates 11 to the lower ends of which a U-shaped support or draw bar 12 is secured: the forward ends of the plates are pivoted on a horizontal axis 10 to brackets 7 connected by eye bolts 8 to members 6 secured to flanges 5 on the axle housings 2. The mower frame comprises a braced triangular structure 14 supported at its rear end by a castor wheel 18 and provided at its forward stubbleward angle with a bracket 19 releasably attached by a vertical pivot 20 to a bracket rigidly secured to the drawbar 12. A frame 22 extends across the front of the structure 14 and forms a support for the cutting mechanism of the mower ; it is provided at the side remote from the pivot 20, with a bifurcated bracket 23 engaging the draw bar 12. The cutter bar 28 is carried by the usual shoe 29 and coupling yoke 30, the yoke being rockably mounted on a L-shaped bar 31 of which the end portion 32 is rockably carried by a bracket 33 secured to the structure 14 and transverse frame 22. A lever 51 can adjust the tilt of the shoe 29 and the cutter bar 28. A rock shaft 25, mounted in vertical brackets on the frame 22, is provided with a crank arm 26 connected to lifting linkage 27 for the cutter bar, and also with a vertical arm connected to a balancing spring 34. The knife bar is driven from a power take-off shaft 36 through flexible shafting 37 and the usual crank pin 40 and pitman 41. The cutter bar is lifted by a hand lever 44 having a releasable and flexible connection 47 to an arm 48 secured to the rock shaft 45 : a foot lever 45 is also provided to give angular movement to the rock shaft. The mower is maintained in working position by a releasable tie bar 52. The pivot axis 10 is arranged close behind the housing of the rearaxle of the tractor and substantially at the same height as the power take-off shaft of the tractor.
