Abstract
528,169. Folding fabrics. TAGG, J. F., and TAGG, G. April 29, 1939, No. 12867. [Class 42 (ii)] In a cloth laying machine in which a cloth carriage 5 is moved to and fro over a table 8, one guide rail 9 for the cloth a ... a is automatically raised and the other lowered to laying position at the end of each traverse of the carriage. As shown, the two rails 9 are guided vertically by rollers &c. 25 and are connected by links 10 to the opposite ends of levers 11 on a shaft 12 which is connected by gearing 13, 14, 16, 17 to a disc 22 on a shaft 18. An arm 19 loose on the shaft 18 normally hangs vertical, but at the end of each traverse of the carriage 5 it is moved by a stop 20 on the frame, and turns the disc 22, thereby changing the -positions of the cloth guide rails 9. The wheel 14 is splined on its shaft 15 to allow of the raising of the folding means to suit the height of the folded cloth.
