Abstract
527,548. Sulphonamide derivatives. HOFFMAN-LA ROCHE & CO. AKT.-GES. April 27, 1939, No. 12620. Convention date, May 16, 1938. [Class 2 (iii)] Phosphoric acid dichlorides of 4-aminobenzene-sulphonamides are prepared by heating 4-aminobenzene-sulphonamide and its alkyl or aryl derivatives with phosphorus oxychloride. The products react with alkylamines to give alkali-soluble phosphamic acids and with caustic alkalies to give alkali-soluble phosphoric acids, both of which classes of compounds are useful therapeutically. Examples describe the interaction of boiling phosphorus oxychloride with sulphanilamide and its hydrochloride, and with 4-aminobenzene-sulphonic acid methylamide. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also describes the reaction of the products with ammonia. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
