Abstract

527,200. Window frames. SLEIGH, H. L., and CHESTON, A. S. April 4, 1939, No. 10439. [Class 20 (iii)] A window frame for either vehicles or buildings comprises separate corner and side-pieces A, B, respectively, of non-metallic plastic mouldable material, socketed or otherwise jointed together. The cross - section of the frame is such as to permit of glazing after assembly of the frame parts, and the glass may be secured in position by any usual means, or by rubber glazing strips of the kind described in Specifications 442,552, 498,732, 503,308 and 505,960. One form of joint is shown in Figs. 8 and 9. A .sheet-metal dowel 6 of cross-sectional shape similar to that of the frame is moulded in the end of the corner-piece A and a corresponding socket 12 is formed in the side-piece B. The joint is fixed by rivets. Other forms of joints and of frame cross-sections are described. T-shaped corner-pieces are used in multiplewindow frames.
