Abstract

526,906. Time switches, snap action switches. PROCTOR & SCHWARTZ, Inc. March 28, 1939, No. 9683. Convention date, April 14, 1938. [Class 38 (v)] [Also in Group XXXV] A time-delay switch controls the temporary over-energization of the heater units 1 of a cooker. Rotation of a knob 27, through pin and a slot drive rotates shaft 26 closing contacts 61 and winding-up a spring-drive 25. Upon release, the knob 27 is returned to its initial position by a spring 35. The drive 25 slowly returns the shaft 26 and finally opens the contacts 61. These contacts are snap-actuated, the deadcentre spring 65 being kinked to one side or the other by the looped end of a spring 69 driven by the shaft 26. A thermal strip 74 associated with a heater 16 in circuit with the units 1, bends towards a spiral ratchet 73, Fig. 4, on the shaft 26 so as to limit the rotation thereof and thereby reduce the period of quick heating approximately according to the initial temperature of the units 1.
