Abstract
526,174. Distilling. WILTON, T. O. March 8, 1939, No. 7575. Convention date, March 8, 1938. [Class 32] In a distillation process wherein vapour fractions of different boiling ranges are introduced into a fractionating column at different points, one source of heat only is used to obtain the vapour fractions (the fraction of highest boiling range), the others being obtained by heat exchange, the hot residues of one fraction being used to distil a fraction of lower boiling range. In the Figure a crude tar is circulated from the tank a to a heat exchanger c (heated by condensation of the highest fraction), waste heat coil d (heated by waste gases from still), heat exchanger e (heated by part of final residues from flash chamber g), primary flash chamber f, distilling column h (heated by part of final residues from flash chamber g), and to a secondary flash chamber g. The distillates from flash chamber f, distilling column h and the flash chamber g pass through pipes 73, 72 and 71 to the fractionation column e and then to tanks s, t, u, v and w.
