Abstract

523,662. Photographic combined telemeters and viewfinders. ZEISS IKON AKT.-GES. Dec. 7, 1938, No. 35707. Convention date, Jan. 22. [Class 98 (i)] Image bounding marks are located outside the paths of the rays forming the finder and telemeter images, and are reflected into the finder field by a semi-transparent silvered surface which also constitutes a reflecting surface for one of the telemeter images. In the form shown, the telemeter base comprises prisms 1, 2, prism 2 bearing a semi-transparent silvered surface 5. The coincidence adjustment is effected by rotary wedges 9, 10. Between the prisms 1, 2, and forming in effect a single glass body with them, is a rhombic prism 6 on which is cemented a lens 7, whereby the observer sees at infinity an image of an image-bounding frame 8 formed by slits in the front wall of the camera housing 11 between the telemeter entrance apertures 12, 13. In addition to the frame, the pointer 14 of a photo-electric exposure meter, or exposure time or stop-valve indications, may be reflected into the finder field. In a modification, the rhombic prism 6 and lens 7 are replaced by a triangular prism and lens, the lens being on the side of the prism facing the reflector 5.
