Abstract

523,379. Packing cases for refrigerators. COLDAIR, Ltd., and SAUNDERS, N. F. T. Jan. 4, 1939, No. 282. [Class 18] A refrigerator is secured in a packing case the plywood base 1 of which has a pair of wood blocks 3 which just fit in the recess in the base of the refrigerator to position it rigidly against motion in a plane parallel to the base, while the rectangular wooden frame normally used to position the interior of the refrigerator in its cabinet casing has two metal straps 19 secured to it by screws, down-turned ends of the straps carrying tapped bosses 20 by means of which a wood batten 21 is secured to the refrigerator cabinet by bolts 22. The refrigerator cabinet is assembled on the packing case base the sides and top of which are then secured in position and the top of the packing case is nailed to batten 21 along its outer surface and at its ends. Transverse strengthening battens are used on the packing case as shown.
