Abstract

523,213. Vulcanizing long lengths. WALLACE, A. L. Dec. 28, 1938, No. 37674. [Class 70] In apparatus for moulding and vulcanizing continuous lengths of material such as rubber hose, as described in Specification 471,754, in which the material 17 is pressed by radiallyaranged endless series of mould members 28 and endless flexible steel strips 18 pass between the moulds and the material, the strips are guided through channels in a tapering member 1 held by a support 2, and containing an interior fitting 12 through the centre of which the material to be vulcanized passes. The members 1, 12 have channels in staggered relation through which the steel strips 18 pass. The channels are fitted with removable liners to prevent wear and also with supporting strips which lie over the outer surfaces of the strips 18, the liners and supporting strips having stops which take against the entrance end of the member 2.
