[Class 108 (i)] In a truck adapted for elevating skid platforms and having supporting wheels 24 toward the rear thereof, the provision of a lift assisting roller 33 positioned on the truck rearwardly of the supporting wheels 24, the roller being adapted to assist in lifting the truck over an obstruction, such as the lower boards 25 of a hollow platform, prior to the engagement of the supporting wheels with the obstruction. The truck may be of the type described in U.S.A. Specifications 2,093,392 and 1,885,649 in which the truck platform is bifurcated in order to straddle the centre partition 30 of the hollow platform. The frame 18 is fixed to the head of the truck and the surrounding frame 10 is raised by the lifting gear. The wheels 24 are carried by levers 20 pivoted to the frame 18 at 21 and to the lifting frame 10 at 19 so that when the frame 10 is drawn toward the front by the hook 13 of the lever handle 12 the wheels 24 act as a fulcrum to raise the frame 10. The lift assisting roller 33 is higher than the wheels 24 and may be pivoted to the frame 18 or frame 10 or two wheels may be used, Fig. 3, one wheel 33 being pivoted to the frame 18 and the other 34, which is higher than the wheel 33, is pivoted to the frame 10. The wheels 33, 34 assist in lifting the frames 10, 18 over the bottom boards 25 of the hollow platform which carry the goods, they also assist in carrying the supporting rollers over the gaps between the bottom boards. The hollow platform comprises upper and lower spaced boards 25 spaced apart by side and centre boards, the edges being provided with steel angles bolted or welded together. The centre board 30, Fig. 1, is provided with a flared channel plate 31 for protection against impact by the bifurcated ends of the lifting truck.
