Abstract

521,988. Bolts, screws &c. locking; washers. EVERY, C. E. (Illinois Tool Works). Nov. 30, 1938, No. 34926. [Class 89 (i)] A threaded member and locking washer are secured together frictionally by forcing a washer 68 on to a shank part 76 of the threaded member and engaging projections 78 thereon. The washer, which is relatively hard, is provided with tooth-like resilient projections 64, Fig. 2, that bite into a clamping surface of the threaded member. Its inner surface when pushed on to the shank part of the member shears its way past the projections thereby causing a frictional grip to maintain it in position on the threaded member.
