Abstract
521,720. Distributing music. WIRED RADIO, Inc. Nov. 24, 1938, No. 34164. Convention date, Dec. 21, 1937. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XL] In a system in which different programmes are transmitted over, e.g. a power line 25 on carriers A ... E arranged in pairs as shown in Fig. 3 so that the space between the carriers of a pair is occupied by the upper side-band of the lower carrier and the lower sideband of the upper carrier whilst the space between two pairs'is not less than the width of a side-band and is free of signals, the receiving arrangement comprises a broadlytuned circuit 30 passing a band represented by curve 33, Fig. 3, a mixing amplifier 35 fed with replacement carriers from a source 36, a second broadly-tuned circuit 31, an average type linear detector 40 the load 39 of which is not bypassed and which effectively detects only, signals from the selected carrier and a tuned circuit 42'in the audio-frequency output which passes only a band (45, Fig. 3) corresponding to the width of a side-band. The carriers A ... E are harmonics of a basic frequency of 10 kc. and are impressed on the transmission medium in the manner described in Specification 520,074. Specification 481,962, [Group XL], also is referred to.
