521,449. Wrenches &c. SIESEL, W. M. Nov. 16, 1938, No. 33323. Convention date, Nov. 19, 1937. [Class 61 (iii)] A torque overload releasing wrench &c. comprises a driving member in the form of a disc 11 having a collar 14 provided with holes 15 for a tommy bar or formed as a wrench socket and on the opposite side to the collar 14 a sleeve 12 housing the driven disc member 16 which is rigidly mounted on a hub 19 integral with a shaft 20 and is provided with radial bores 17 in which are located springs 26 and balls 27, 28, the drive being effected through the engagement of the balls 27 with holes'13 on the sleeve 12. The pressure of the springs 26 is adjustable to vary the torque at which the drive slips by means of an axially moving collar 22 with a threaded bore engaging a screw thread 24 on the shaft 20 and having a conical forward end 23 engaging the balls 28 ; figures on the collar 22 indicate the releasing torque to which the device is set. Shaft 20 terminates in a squared part 29 with ball detent 30 adapted to engage standard wrench sockets.
