Abstract

521,111. Electric heating plates ; electric couplings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and CATTELL, G. S. Nov. 8, 1938, No. 32385. [Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] An electrically-conducting cement is introduced between a fixing bolt and an electric heating plate which is secured by the bolt to a support such as an electric cooker so that the resistance of the electrical connection between the top plate and the bolt, which is used for earthing the top plate, does not increase during the life of the heating plate. The cement may consist of iron filings, plaster of paris, carbon, and organic gums. Alternatively a substance which acts chemically on the bolt and top plate such as iron filings, ammonium chloride and sulphur may be used, or the cement known as " Smooth On."
