520,693. Indicating - apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., BLACK, D. H., and FREMLIN, J. H. Oct. 27, 1938, No. 31032. [Class 106 (iv] [Also in Group XXXVI] Apparatus for recording the fluctuations of two interrelated variables comprises two mirror galvanometers G<SP>1</SP>, G<SP>2</SP> each having their movement angularly displaceable on a vertical axis, a prismatic system E being disposed in the path of the light rays between the mirrors for rotating the plane of deflection through 90 degrees so that the light spot moves over a recording surface or a scale 1 of rectangular coordinates. Electrostatic instruments can be employed, and the variables may be dependent or independent, and may comprise the relationships volts/volts, volts/amps, amps/amps, temperature/resistance and temperature/volts. In one arrangement for measuring anode current in relation to grid volts, the galvanometers are connected in the respective circuits and the grid bias is manually adjusted to control the light spot. Three prisms are located in the path of the rays between the galvanometer mirrors having their faces arranged so that the rays are turned through 90 degrees and leave the prisms in the same direction as they entered. The measurements of screen current in relation to anode current, and secondary emission, are referred to. The pencil or rays can be in the form of four rectangles and a central circle of light to facilitate reading on a recording surface which may be provided with a template curve.
