Abstract

520,512. Dyeing textiles. SOC. OF CHEMICAL INDUSTRY IN BASLE. Nov. 3, 1938, No. 31854. Convention date, July 8. [Class 15 (ii)] Printing.-The fastness, especially to wet treatments, of prints obtained with dyestuffs fixed with the aid of mordants is improved by treating the printed material with an aqueous solution of a salt of a basic compound containing an uninterrupted chain of at least 10 carbon atoms and containing no group imparting an amphoteric character to the compound.. Specified compounds are those described in Specifications 339,962, [Class 15 (ii)], 366,918, 390,553, 441,767, 443,588 and 496,611. In examples: (1) a fabric of natural and/or regenerated cellulose is printed -with an aqueous paste containing Alizarine yellow GG or Gallocyanine, acid starch tragacanth thickening and chromium acetate and the printed fabric is dried, steamed washed and treated for 15 minutes in an aqueous solution at room temperature containing per litre 0.25 gram. of 4-stearylaminobenzenetrimethylammonium methosulphate ; (2) viscose artificial silk is printed with an aqueous paste containing Rhodamine B extra, or Violet B or Methylene blue D, acetic acid, gum arabic, tannin and tartaric acid and the printed goods are dried, steamed, rinsed and treated for 15 minutes with an aqueous solution at room temperature containing 0.2 gram. per litre of Á-heptadecyl - N:N - dimethylbenzimidazolium chloride. Specification 398,175 also is referred to.
