Abstract

519,279. Bridles. ORAM, S. Oct. 14, 1938, No. 29629. [Class 62] A bridle comprises a nose band 1, Fig. 1, which encircles the animal's head above the nostrils and is provided at each side with a guide member 8 through which slides a curbing rein 11, the ends of the rein being attached to a chain or like curb 12 disposed between the guide members and adapted to lie under the animal's lower jaw, A flexible reinforcement or tension member 4, Fig. 3, composed of metal wires, a chain or other flexible non-elastic material is housed within or attached to the front of the band 1 and is connected at its ends to spring- closed hooks 5 to which the guide members 8 are attached. Each guide member comprises a loop with a roller 9 through which the round part 10 of the curbing rein is passed. An adjustable washer or clamp 13, which may be a rubber ring, is fitted to the part 10 to limit the extent to which the rein will fall through the guide member 8. The curbing attachment can be removed when desired by detaching the guide members 8 from the spring-closed hooks 5. The bridle is used in conjunction with ordinary bridles and bits.
